Library seats vs single-file UGC
Single-file (or small-batch) UGC pricing answers: how much to shoot one 15s or 30s and grant a brand paid usage for N days. A library deal answers: how many people inside the brand (or agency) may pull from a finished pool of assets, for how long, in which channels. The second question is seat licensing. Brands blur them on purpose — “we already paid for the videos, so the whole team can keep using them forever.”
Creation pays for production. Library seats pay for concurrent access and term length. If you only invoice creation, every new marketer who joins the Slack is free labour on your likeness and edit time. Put seats on the card.
Libraries also change how you think about revisions. At create time you still offer one round per asset (or two for the batch). After the library is live, “can you cut a new hook for Black Friday” is new production — not a seat privilege. Seat holders may download approved masters; they may not demand unpaid reedits because a new seasonal brief appeared.
Spine: library seat × term matrix
Working ranges as a % of the creation batch total ($2,400 in the example). One seat = one named brand entity with a capped number of internal users (e.g. ≤5 editors). Extra seats = additional concurrent entities or user blocks.
| Seats | 30 days | 90 days | 180 days | Example $ on $2,400 create |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 seat | 20–25% | 35–50% | 55–75% | 90d → $840–$1,200 |
| 2 seats | 30–38% | 50–70% | 80–105% | 90d → $1,200–$1,680 |
| 3 seats | 40–50% | 65–90% | 100–130% | 90d → $1,560–$2,160 |
| Agency sublicense tier | Quote custom | Quote custom | Quote custom | Often 1.5–2× 3-seat |
| Perpetual buyout (1 seat) | — | — | 2–3× 180d | ~$2,640–$5,400 |
Territory (e.g. US-only vs global) and paid social as the brand still need explicit lines — seats are access, not unlimited media rights.
Worked quote: 12 assets, 2 seats, 90 days
Brand wants twelve short UGC videos delivered once, then two marketing teams (brand + performance agency) pulling from the Drive for ninety days, paid social on their accounts only, US territory.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Creation: 12× ~20s UGC (1 revision / asset) | $2,400 |
| Library: 2 seats × 90 days (~60% of create) | $1,440 |
| Paid usage on brand accounts — included in seat term | In seat fee |
| Whitelist / ads as you | Not included |
| Global territory expand | Not included |
| Total before delivery | $3,840 |
| Refuse | No silent client redistribution; no perpetual |
Day 91: revoke Drive access or renew. Leaving the folder open is unpaid seats.
Collect creation + first seat term before masters leave watermarked review. If the agency later wants a third seat for a sister brand, quote the matrix row — do not “just add them to the folder.”
Clause checklist for library deals
- Named entities and max concurrent users per seat.
- Channels allowed (organic brand social, paid brand social, email, web — list them).
- No sublicense unless the agency tier is paid.
- Term start = payment cleared + folder access granted.
- New assets mid-term = new create fee + refresh % on remaining term.
- One concept revision per asset at create; library access is not unlimited re-edits.
Library seats pair with usage-rights thinking: you are still licensing identity and creative. The difference is concurrency and pool size. For single-asset percentages and territory expands, use the usage-rights guide; for production menus without posting, use the UGC-only rate card.
What library licensing is not
Not “how much for one UGC”
Length and hook pricing lives on the single-video UGC guide — this page is seats × term.
Not a UGC-only rate card
That card is the production menu. Library is the multi-user access layer after files exist.
Not perpetual by default
Buyouts are their own line. Open-ended Drive access is unpaid inventory.
If a brand only needs two videos for one campaign team for thirty days, sell batch creation + a short paid-usage window — skip the library SKU. Libraries earn their matrix when multiple teams will keep pulling from a pool.
Practical refuse lines: no unnamed “all agencies we work with” seat; no perpetual Drive link without a buyout; no mixing organic-influencer posting into a UGC library invoice without a separate post SKU. When in doubt, invoice create + one seat + ninety days, then renew. Renewals are where library pricing compounds without another full shoot.

UGC library licence questions
+What is a UGC content library licence versus a single video fee?
A single-file UGC fee covers creating and licensing one (or a small batch of) assets. A library licence sells seats into a multi-asset pool — same files reused by N brand users or agencies for a term. You price seats × months, not “one more video.”
+How do I price seats for a 12-asset UGC library?
Start from the creation batch total, then add a library seat multiplier. Example: $2,400 for 12 assets created; 1 seat × 90 days ≈ +35–50% of creation; each extra concurrent seat ≈ +15–25% of the single-seat library fee for that term.
+Can agencies redistribute library assets to client brands?
Only if the seat tier says so. Default: one named brand entity. Agency “seat” that sublicenses to unlimited clients is a higher tier — quote it or refuse. Silent redistribution is a licence breach, not a favor.
+Does a library licence include perpetual usage?
No by default. Term is months (30/90/180). Perpetual is a separate buyout — usually 2–3× a 180-day single-seat library fee — and should appear as its own line with territory limits.
+How is this different from a UGC-only rate card?
UGC-only cards price production SKUs (15s, 30s, photos) for delivery. This page prices ongoing multi-user access to a finished pool. Create first; license library seats second.
+What if they want new assets added mid-term?
Additions are new creation fees plus a library refresh fee (e.g. 10–15% of the remaining seat term). Do not auto-expand the pool because “it’s the same campaign.”
Separate creation SKUs from library seats
BlueRateCard can host production packages and usage/licence toggles with a platform payment hold before delivery. Free for creators; brands pay 5% capped at $100.
