Paid amplification vs organic repost

“We’ll just boost it” is the most expensive sentence in creator DMs because it sounds small. Boosting is paid amplification. An organic repost is a reshare with no media spend. If you only sold the collab, you sold neither ads nor a permanent slot on their grid — unless you wrote that down.

Ad products — same word, different SKUs

Briefs say “boost” for everything. On this site these are separate lines. Meta’s UI label Allow brand partner to boost means Partnership Ads permission — not the Instagram Boost button.

SKU (say this)Who the ad looks likeWho spendsWhat you grant
Brand-account ads (paid usage / dark post)The brandTheir ad accountFile + licence (days, territory, spend) — no Partnership permission
Creator BoostYour organic post, boostedYour Meta ad account (they prepay media)You tap Boost; set budget + duration — never share your password
Partnership Ads / whitelistYou (usually with the brand in the header)Their Ads ManagerInstagram: partnership ad code or Allow brand partner to boost (= Partnership permission)
TikTok Spark AdsYour TikTok videoTheir TikTok Ads accountAd authorization code (7 / 30 / 60 / 365 days)

If they say “boost included,” ask who spends and who taps Boost — then pick one row.

Worked quote: $900 Reel, reshare vs Brand-account ads

Courtesy reshare never unlocks paid spend. Invoice silent Brand-account ads at the 90-day paid-usage cell as a floor.

A 48-hour reshare that cannot grow

Courtesy clause

“Brand may organically reshare the live post to unpaid brand social, with credit, for 48 hours after I post. No paid spend on that reshare.”

Amplification clause

“Any paid impression — Brand-account ads, Creator Boost, Spark Ads, Partnership Ad — is paid amplification and requires the add-on on the rate card.”

If they need both

Sell both lines. Do not average them. A 48-hour reshare plus 90-day brand ads is a courtesy plus a cell, not “usage included”.

Catching silent paid amplification

  • Check Meta Ad Library for Meta/Instagram/Facebook ads. TikTok’s public Ad Library is Europe-focused; Creative Center shows top advertiser-authorised Spark examples — not a full log of every ad on your handle.
  • Ask them, in writing, “Will any paid spend run on this asset?” before you accept the brief.
  • If you granted partner access for “analytics”, revoke it — analytics does not need ads permission.
  • Invoice the amplification cell at the 90-day rate as a floor; week-long “tests” still paid.

Organic reposts are how brands show the collab to their followers. That can be fair. Paid amplification is how they buy everyone else’s. Charge the second one like media, because that is what it is.

The sentence to put under every collab SKU

“Organic repost on brand social with credit, unpaid, up to 48 hours. Any paid impression is a separate add-on.” That one pair of sentences does more than a page of definitions. When they reply “we always boost creator content”, you reply with the add-on number. You are not blocking their media plan. You are putting it on a PO. If their media plan cannot survive a line item, it was never budgeted — it was going to come out of your fee.

Amplification vs repost questions

+If they say they will “just boost it”, what are they asking for?

Paid media — usually Brand-account ads (paid usage), not an organic repost. Could also mean Creator Boost, Spark Ads, or Partnership Ads depending on who spends. Sell the paid-usage or whitelist cell, depending on whose handle runs the ad.

+Is an organic repost on their grid included in my post fee?

Often yes if they credit you and do not run ads on that reshare. Cap it: one reshare, their unpaid social, 12 months. A 48-hour reshare window is a tighter gift if you want it time-boxed.

+How do I price paid amplification as its own line?

Brand-account ads: +25–40% for 30 days or +40–60% for 90 days of the content fee, named platforms. Creator-handle ads: whitelist/Spark table. Do not hide either inside “repost rights”.

+What if they run Spark or Partnership Ads without telling me?

That is unpaid amplification. Screenshot, invoice the cell, revoke access. Do not start the next SKU. “We thought Brand-account ads were included” is why the line item exists.

+Can I allow a 48-hour organic repost and still charge for ads?

Yes. That is the clean split: short unpaid reshare as courtesy, paid amplification as a SKU. Write both so the courtesy cannot grow into a campaign.

+How much is 90-day Brand-account ads (paid usage) on a $900 Reel?

About +40% = $360 (total $1,260) if ads run from their page (paid-social 90d cell: +40–60%). If they need your handle, that is whitelist/Partnership — usually +40–60% for 30 days with a spend cap, not the Brand-account ads cell.

Make amplification a toggle they pay for

BlueRateCard’s ad/usage add-on is the paid-amplification line. Organic posting stays on the package. They cannot checkout a boost inside a reshare. Free for creators.
