TikTok Spark Ads authorization fee

A Spark code lets a brand advertise your TikTok without ripping the file into a dark post. Comments stay, your handle stays, and their spend sits on your video. That is why Spark is not “included in the collab”.

This page is not legal, tax, financial, or other professional advice. For a live deal, talk to a lawyer and a tax or finance specialist in your jurisdiction — BlueRateCard is not either.

TikTok’s UI labels change. Price the authorization window, not the button name.

Collect before you paste the Spark code

The authorization fee only sticks if cash clears (or sits in a hold) before the brand can spend as you. Use get paid before you shoot / authorize. Choose the money path with escrow vs deposit vs Net terms. Keep the licence tied to cleared funds via copyright until paid— expire the code on day N+1 if they ghost.

Collab post vs Spark code

If they only buy the post, they get a video on your profile. They may stitch, duet, or screenshot for an internal deck. They may not attach spend to that URL as you. Spark is the product that attaches spend. Quote it like a rental: video ID, start date, end date, territory if you can name it, and whether they may change the caption.

If they want Meta whitelist on the same week, that is a third product — see the whitelist fee table, not this Spark cell.

How to authorize one TikTok for Spark (your taps)

  • Collect the Spark fee (or a platform payment hold) before you generate a code.
  • Open the published video → tap ··· → Ad settings.
  • Turn on Ad authorization → choose duration (TikTok lists options such as 7, 30, 60, or 365 days) → Generate / Copy code.
  • Send the code + video URL + written spend cap + territory to the brand. They paste the code in TikTok Ads Manager (Spark ads posts → apply authorization).
  • When the paid window ends, do not extend for free — expire/revoke and invoice a new cell if they want more days.

Spend cap: write max media spend in the deal; the brand can also use TikTok Budget Manager / billing caps so the ad account pauses at a custom limit. Countries: write territory on the invoice; they set location targeting in the campaign — same logic as Meta whitelist.

When to send the code

After the video is live

Codes attach to a published video. Do not send a code for a draft. If they want to Spark on publish day, schedule the post, then authorize the same hour — after payment clears or sits in a payment hold.

After they name the video ID

A brand that says “we’ll pick which video later” is asking for a catalog. That is a retainer, not a $200 add-on.

Never in the same email as unpaid extras

If they add Spark after you posted, it is a new invoice. Do not generate the code “to keep the relationship” on a collab that already closed.

Spark codes are not relationship glue. Payment → code → calendar revoke.

Protect the next deal’s stats

  • Export organic vs paid views before you send the rate card to the next brand. Sparked videos inflate “average views”.
  • If Spark comments turn hostile, you still own the thread. Price a takedown / kill on Spark separately from taking the organic post down.
  • A 7-day test that “went well” is not automatic permission to extend. Day 8 is a new cell on the table.
  • Spark plus a paid collab on the same week can exhaust your followers. If they also want exclusivity, that is a third line.

Micro creators: a $250 TikTok with 30-day Spark at 50% is $375, not $250. If the brand’s media plan is larger than your annual collab income, add a spend cap the same way you would on Meta whitelisting. TikTok will not do that for you. Shop affiliate commission is a different product — see TikTok Shop affiliate vs flat fee.

Spark Ads fee questions

+What if they want to extend Spark on day 28 of a 30-day grant?

That is a new SKU. Quote another 30 days at the same % (or higher if spend was hot), collect payment, then extend auth — do not silently leave the code live “until next week.” Day 31 without pay = revoke.

+What is a TikTok Spark Ads authorization in practice?

You generate a Spark code (or approve the brand in TikTok’s partnership tools) so they can put paid spend behind a specific video while it still looks like your organic post — likes, comments, and handle included.

+How is a Spark fee different from a TikTok collab post fee?

The collab fee pays you to make and post the video. The Spark fee pays for the right to advertise that video as you. Brands often ask for both in one sentence. Quote two lines.

+How long should I authorize Spark for?

Seven days for a test; 30 days as the standard paid add-on. TikTok’s authorization picker also lists 60 and 365 days — price long windows like a media buy, not a courtesy. A 365-day grant on a $400 video is rent on your identity.

+Can the brand Spark a video I posted organically last month?

Only if you sell that authorization. Old videos with comment social proof are more valuable to them, not less. Price a back-catalog Spark higher than Spark on a new collab you just posted.

+Do Spark ads count toward my organic views?

Paid Spark impressions are not the same as organic distribution. Do not quote “average views” to the next brand using a video that was heavily Sparked unless you separate paid and organic in the screenshot.

+How much should I charge for 30-day Spark on a $300 TikTok?

Use the +40–60% band on that video: about $120–$180 on top of the collab. Add a spend cap if their media plan is larger than your annual TikTok income. Spark is rent on identity, not a tip.

+Should I send the Spark code before payment clears?

No. Collect upfront, deposit, or a platform hold first. A Net-60 after you authorize is free media on your handle — revoke on day 31 if they stall.

Sell Spark as a 30-day add-on

Put Spark authorization next to the TikTok package on a live card so the brand cannot blur it into the post price. They pay before you send the code. Free for creators.
